Does it work on every video?

It works when YouTube provides a caption track that the extension can read. Videos without captions, live streams before replay captions are available, and some rights-restricted uploads may show an empty or error state.

Why is the panel above related videos?

On desktop, related videos appear in the right column. Placing the transcript there keeps the player at full width instead of opening a Chrome side panel that reduces the space available to the video.

Can I collapse the panel?

Yes. Use the chevron in the title row. The extension stores that preference locally and restores it on your next visit.

Does automatic loading fetch transcripts in the background?

With Automatic on, the panel loads the transcript for the video in the active watch-page address after navigation. Turn it off if you only want transcripts when you request them. The extension does not scan other videos or build a remote watch-history list.

Which languages appear in Settings?

The language setting controls extension interface text. It does not choose the video's caption track. Caption language follows the tracks and selection behavior available from YouTube for that video.

Does the extension upload my watch history or transcripts?

No. Transcript extraction runs in the page context you opened, and the temporary transcript cache stays in Chrome extension storage on your device. Limited anonymous analytics and sanitized error reports may be sent when enabled, but they do not include transcript text or a browsed list of your watch history. Does it work on mobile YouTube?

The panel targets desktop YouTube watch pages. Mobile layouts handle the right column differently; the extension is not currently designed for the mobile experience.
